The KCI complex spans more than 10,000 acres and its three runways can accommodate up to 139 aircraft operations per hour. KCI was originally called Mid-Continent International Airport, or MCI. Since US airport identifiers cannot begin with the letter K (or N or W), MCI remains its official identifier. This is the city where the $100 hamburger becomes the $200 steak!
